Pink Ribbon Luncheon 2006

A Success in 2006

More than 1300 people attended the Fifth Annual Pink Ribbon Luncheon to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Held at the newly renovated Duke Energy Center, the luncheon raised nearly $200,000 for the Pink Ribbon programs, propelling the young event to reach the million dollar mark in 2006.

Inspiring a captive audience, world renowned author and healer Dr. Andrew Weil served as the luncheon speaker. Featured on the cover of Time magazine in October 2005 and seen as a frequent guest on Oprah, CNN and The Today Show, Dr. Weil shared his insights on healthy living and the importance of being in charge of our health and lives. Guests were empowered as Dr. Weil shared practical tips on improving one’s health through mind, body and spirit. Prior to Dr. Weil’s talk, guests were treated to a fashion show featuring the unveiling of his fall line by celebrity furrier Dennis Basso

Co-chaired by Alyson Warner Barnard, Holly Collinsworth, Penny Kereiakes Pomeranz and honorary co-chairs Jane and Rob Portman, 100% of the Pink Ribbon Luncheon’s proceeds support the Pink Ribbon programs.
